Everyone feels that they have ADHD at one time in their life. So, how do you make a real diagnosis?
At Synaptec, we help you to make a thoughtful, evidence-based diagnosis by gathering information from multiple sources who know the person well. We ask all parents and kids over 12 to fill out a screening tool. We also ask for at least one teacher, coach or tutor to provide feedback through the assessment; the more the better. There is no actual blood test, so we want as many people who know the person to weigh in on symptoms of ADHD.
We put all the responses together to make a useful and thoughtful diagnosis. These results are shared with the medical and mental health professionals you choose. If there is a positive diagnosis of ADHD, we will assist you and your team by providing a treatment plan that is continuously updated based on changes in symptoms and behavior and changes in the information that we receive from you and your team. We continue to screen the person over time to determine whether treatment is working or if changes need to be made.
We ask questions about Anxiety because sometimes it is difficult to know what the underlying issue, if any, is; whether ADHD, Anxiety or both.
PLEASE NOTE: Synaptec assessments are only the first step to a complete diagnosis and will screen for risk for a particular mental health issue, such as ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Gaming Addiction and Problematic Use of the Internet. To confirm a diagnosis, please begin by sharing your Synaptec assessment results with your doctor or mental health provider.
